LEAD-China Director Li Lailai is Director of the Institute of Environment and Development in Beijing which is the host institute for LEAD-China. She received her bachelor's degree in English, and a master's and a doctorate in sociology from the University of Pittsburgh in the United States. Prior to her appointment as the National Program Director of LEAD-China, L. Li worked as a research fellow at the Institute of Sociology and Anthropology at Peking University, where her research was focused on the interactions between the Chinese traditional values, agricultural activities and environmental impacts. Since November 1997, she has been Director of Information Resources at LEAD International (part time). She participates in the development of LEAD's information strategy, thereby fulfilling her interest in exploring the role of information and information technology in the human endeavor toward the greater sustainability of society.

何宇鹏 Yupeng He

HE Yupeng is director and associate professor in the division of trade and commodity studies at the Research Center for Rural Economy in the Ministry of Agriculture. His research addresses agricultural trade studies, agricultural and rural development policy evaluation, and public policy analysis. During the past decade, He Yupeng has chaired two national and international research projects concerned with public health and rural women's advancement. He also co-directed an annual analysis of agricultural and rural development during this time. He has participated in a number of other research projects and has authored more than 30 papers and several books. He graduated from the Department of Sociology at Peking University in 1988 and studied at the Department of Population Studies and International Health at Harvard University.
