Academic Director of LEAD China

Dr. Lu Zhi is a Professor of Conservation Biology and the Executive Director of Center for Nature and Society of Peking University, founder and director of Shan-Shui Conservation Center, a Chinese NGO.

Dr. Lu Zhi began her career in 1985 with an 11-year research on the wild giant panda. She worked as WWF Species and Protected Areas Program Officer (1995 to 2000), and the first Country Director for Conservation International in China (2002-2007). She stayed at Harvard University as visiting scholar, followed by a year at Yale University teaching conservation management.

HE Yupeng is director and associate professor in the division of trade and commodity studies at the Research Center for Rural Economy in the Ministry of Agriculture. His research addresses agricultural trade studies, agricultural and rural development policy evaluation, and public policy analysis. During the past decade, He Yupeng has chaired two national and international research projects concerned with public health and rural women's advancement. He also co-directed an annual analysis of agricultural and rural development during this time. He has participated in a number of other research projects and has authored more than 30 papers and several books. He graduated from the Department of Sociology at Peking University in 1988 and studied at the Department of Population Studies and International Health at Harvard University.
