LEAD Curriculum Development | Training
of Trainers
LEAD International is currently embarking on
a two-year training curriculum development process which builds upon the current framework
curriculum guidelines which were established in 1992 and reviewed in 1997. The current
process aims to further develop these guidelines and produce a number of core, shared
training modules for the Member Programs and LEAD International.
A Curriculum
Workshop, held in Phuket, Thailand from 31 January 6 February 1999 was an
important step in the process to explore training content and methodologies being used at
the Member Program level and to see where synergy and sharing could help strengthen
existing training among the LEAD Program Offices. This meeting was also the first to
provide a forum for LEAD Program Directors, Academic Directors and LEAD International
Staff to discuss together the curriculum process in order to make it a transparent and
highly participatory initiative. Finally, this workshop allowed participants to focus on
one aspect of leadership training, that of teambuilding and networking, and to explore new
methodologies for treating this key component of the LEAD program through a test of a
training module in this area. The conclusions of the Curriculum Workshop are available
here
The next step in the curriculum development
process was a meeting of the LEAD International Curriculum
Advisory Committee, convened 24-25 March 1999 in Paris to discuss among other things
the results of the Phuket Workshop and the curriculum development strategy. The expected
outcome of theses two meetings is a proposal on the topics of a set of common curriculum
modules which will be developed and shared by the LEAD Programs and reinforced in the
International Sessions. The period from May to December 1999 will be used for module
development. Implementation will begin in 2000.
